These missions are nothing spectacular or even particularly interesting, but they are nonetheless simple and solid. This is especially notable when you consider that these levels were made back in 1999 - 2000. There's barely a story connecting the 3 levels, so I'm just going to quickly review each one independently here.
#1. The first level, as well as the second one, are set during the daytime, which is neat as most levels are set at night. It gives the level a kind of sleepy-morning atmosphere. The manor you break into is very simple, and I imagine if you went around knocking everyone out it would be pretty boring. Trying to ghost it, however, gives it a little extra challenge that makes the level worthwhile. The trophy room was only place where I made any knockouts, as it was packed with guards and lights. Overall it was short but sweet.
#2. The second level is also set during the day and is set in what looks to be a mountain retreat built on top of a deep, watery basin. Again, I like the atmosphere and the environment, but this level was not as fun as the last one. First off, there are way too many small spiders in those caves. They seem to be there just to drain your health and supply of arrows. Second, the loot requirement literally requires you to find all of the loot on the level, which obviously drags. Third, because this is an assassination mission, you can kill any of the guards on the level, even on expert, eliminating the challenge completely. I know you could self impose the challenge of not killing just like with ghosting, but with the annoying loot hunt being a thing, I personally didn't have the energy for it. Not terrible, but not great either.
#3. Breaking from the theme, this one is set at night and is a city level instead of just a small manor layout. While this makes its atmosphere similar to a lot of other FMs, it's done well and has a couple unique things about it. For one, the thing you're stealing the Holy Grail. This is because the setting of these FMs is a little more grounded, having Christianity be the leading religion and having Satan-based paganism as their enemies. It's all still magical and has Thief architecture, but you will see some crosses in the place of hammers or Trickster symbols. Other than that, it's a normal romp through the city, going from objective to objective until you finally get your prize: a glowing cup.
