Antiquarian Trowel hired Garrett to find out the source of the rather expensive items sold in the market by forester Marucha. In the course of his mission, Garrett discovers the richness of life on Mars (crap, wrong story)... richesss of social life in Marucha's sylvan household; a dead body, buried beneath the storehouse; an old shrine; and some subterranean catacombs, hidden beneath the well. It is from these catacombs that our resourceful and economically operative forester steals the valuables. Upon his investigation of the graves, Garrett finds the burial places of the abbots, but the grave of the third abbot is mysteriously missing. Driven by his appetite for knowledge (and wealth) our favourite hero enters the monastery chambers attatched to the tombs. It is here that the first part of our story ends, and it is here that we meet our petty thief again.
