It's Garrett's graduation day at the Keeper Academy , what could go wrong ? A lot :)
The first part of the mission perfectly catches the aesthetic of the Keeper's from Thief 1, the academy is full of marble floors and not that well lit corridors and rooms offering any true master of stealth a challenge. The layout is good and the player will have difficulty getting lost (made even harder by the fact that there is a map and an automap). The sense of this being a Keeper building is built up greatly , there are a lot of easy to miss locks or hidden buttons that open secret passages and rooms which leave you asking yourself how did you miss that obvious secret door?
Lore wise the Keeper order is greatly expanded , that is if you want to read A LOT , this does not slow down the pace of the mission as Garrett will take notes of important information automatically .
Now on to the not so great parts of this mission - SPELLS, THE SECOND ACT
One of the things the player discovers early on is that if certain items are combined in a cauldron , spells and items can be made. The problem is that ingredients are scattered all over the map and the player can use up some of them not knowing their use. There are a lot of red herring items that the player can pick up leading to huge inventory clutter , these items were added so the player can't brute force any spell ,but this means the player has to keep an inventory full of maybe useless items.
The second act of the mission is just underbaked and not that original , especially compared to the first.
This mission is worth your time if you like a challenge.
Let's hope the next two missions get released.
