Augustine's Revenge is a very nice city mission with several distinct sections and generally a keen sense of location, atmosphere, and a ton of loot.
You begin within sight of your goal, the mansion of a noble lord whom you have been hired to rob and humiliate by another noble for his revenge, but getting there is no straightforward task. To do so you have to take a long trek through the city, and the sense of progression and exploration is this part of the map is its highlight. You begin on street level in a decent-sized area with a simple map to guide you, although the most enjoyable part is thoroughly exploring it for all the extra nooks and crannies, some of which take you up to ledges and rooftops and through windows—a nice foretaste of the next part of the map, which is a lengthy Thieves Highway section, followed by a comparatively brief foray into the sewers, after which you will finally reach your goal.
Getting there was probably the highlight of the mission for me: I very much enjoyed looking around for every side area I could find (the creepy and ironically-named Strawberry Fields was my favorite), although the sheer amount of loot (over 10000 on the whole map) seemed a little out-of-place at times. Even the mansion area has its share of side areas not strictly necessary for progression, always essential for a truly great Thief map. The main disappointment was that the interior of the mansion itself, at least on the lower floors, was a little dull, and could have used some more interesting design choices.
The story and mission objectives are mostly straightforward. In the mansion there are some "hidden" switches that are none too difficult to find, and a couple final objectives that reveal themselves toward the end, but you should already know where one of the required "items" is located if you explored the initial area of the city.
All in all a fine mission that is still well worth your time more than a decade after its release.
