Nicked's missions often contain what I suspect is metacontent. This could be interpreted as a slight parody of the extremely vertical (to the nth) FM fad of late.

Exactly my thoughts. This does a great job of pointing out all the flaws and joys of vertical gameplay in a brief and humorous way.
