This speed build mission by Bienie is an interesting addition to the Dark Mod catalogue of missions. I think I have played every mission to date and have yet to really find a properly Christmas themed mission. There are plenty of Halloween ones though, which makes sense as the game play style fits the mood of that holiday. That being said, Bienie shows us in this mission that it is quite possible to integrate the Dark Mod setting with a Christmas carol style story, though tongue is firmly in cheek for the most part. The protagonist of the mission recieves a letter from "Nick" (who is -definitely- not Santa!), informing him that he has been a bad boy and is basically blackmailing us to be his package boy for the night. We have to meet with his shady contact (who is suspiciously dressed like an elf), who will give us our instructions. This will require us to venture out in the cold snowy night and avoid the guards as we make our way to the meeting point on the other side of East Farley Acres. The town itself is well laid out and provides some visual interest as well as a decent amount of challenge. Beside our admittedly roomy apartment, there is a cozy pub & inn to visit, as well as pawn store and three apartments that are tied to the main objective. Surprisingly, there are also several hidden objectives and secrets to find despite the mission being rather small (and made in around two weeks!) which is quite impressive. The characters are also pretty well fleshed out, in true Bienie fashion. Christmas theme is further reinforced by Christmas trees and music boxes in the different apartments you explore. The only downside of the mission, taking into consideration the restrictions on a speed build, is that the only real threat are the two guards patrolling the streets, and the pawnkeep, making the difficulty quite low. If however you are looking to get in the Christmas spirit, and like exploration even in absence of great stealth gameplay, this is a great mission for you!
