After a bit of a hiatus, I finally finished this intricate, lovingly woven and absorbing masterpiece. Definitely my favorite fancampaign. The voicework, the eye for detail and dozens of side-stories that follow an inspiring continuity from level to level. The creators devotion and love, reflects in the content, the charming quirks (funny easter-eggs: i.e Tristram) and unique ideas provided. From an insane amount of secrets, to myriads of non-overwhelming readables, you will find yourself always pushing on:"Hey, this edge up there looks suspicious, I bet there's something up there." and 10 out of 10 times you will not be disappointed. And adding to that it will always make sense. A gem behind a statue? Well, the local priest wrote about it in his diary. No "gamey" secrets or other nonsense. Everything is in-character, aside from easy to miss easter-eggs that never were imposing or unfitting of the situation.
You'd be struggling to miss that the people behind this campaign know their game. These are devoted fans (most of them still active to this day), who made this insanely captivating adventure possible. Players will enjoy reading about their favorite character(s) from other fanmissions, from the main game and the overall lore, without being subject to a feeling of "fanfiction"-cringe. This is far from it. This is legit. I'd even go as far as to say it is almost suspiciously too legit. Then, of course, you see how long they worked on this gem (13 years) and it all makes sense. Can't believe that at one point they almost dropped working on it (Random_Taffer is creditted as having saved this project from an early grave).
This, for me personally, is a legit entry in the Thief-series and I don't care what people say. It has level-to-level continuity that you rarely see in any other campaign (even the secrets in itself have story-continuity into the next chapter). You have to play this. In fact, play everything these people produce and you will be rewarded (Cameos, references to eachother, expanding the universe without "fanfiction" cringe etc.).
Huge recommendation! A must-play!
Also, on a personal note that might make me unpopular: I love that they did not presume Garrett's moral compass. He is a thief, at the end of the day. He is not a knight in shining armor. He is not "politically" correct. At the end of the day, he will still steal from a father who just lost his daughter.
(Spoiler)
PS: I love how that one dude got his head smashed in with the gramophone, because he didn't comply with his neighbours warnings. And yes, I saw the Thief at the end, in the alley, watching me!
