A really complex FM, filled with detail and a reoccuring love of the Creator for telling a story. This author has already proven (Bathory & Dracula) that he can absorb the players attention with all the intricate interactions between characters of his work, letting you be the silent observer.
I have to be honest, I only played this one because when I booted up "Being Thief 2" it was instantly clear that I can actually expect more from the 27mb FM that "Being Thief 1" is - and oh boy, I do not regret it.
There is so much to this FM: The city feels believable. The secrets are always interesting. Gamemechanics are always stretched to their limits (moving boxes so a mechanism works - rarely seen that in FMs). A neat, easily missable side objective with a certain Lady Dove. Cheat at a Thieving competition.
I was bored at first:"Oh, just another city map. Let's get through this...", but I was quickly taken aback at how many interesting twists and turns there were. Wanna find a mechanist spider tank? Well... you can even let it shoot stuff. Wanna find out about the backstory of an unfortunate suicide? You see where I am going? A lot there for 27mb.
Can't wait to play the sequel!
It was fun in the end. Glad I picked it up. Thanks for making it.
