I guess I can't really fault this mission for how I feel about it. The readme says as much that it's more of an interactive novel than a Thief experience, so when I say that the gameplay is generally pretty lackluster—and that's not even because there's nothing to steal—it shouldn't really be a surprise. Most of it is keyhunting and isn't too difficult, although the way the evidence on what happened to the reporter was hidden was clever, if not in placement then in execution.
Visually, of course, it's incredible. Obviously a whole lot of custom textures were used here and the effort paid off. The rain and the fog were great too, really added to the atmosphere. So yeah, in terms of aesthetics, everything is great.
Story is... I mean, it's a detective noir. You know what the story is. It's perfectly serviceable considering the effort required to put this campaign together but if I read it in a book, I wouldn't be so kind. But the scripting required to put this all together was pretty snazzy, so props for that.
I guess what I'm mostly disappointed with is how short the campaign is. I don't even mean that it's only three missions but the fact that each one is over so quickly. With how large the overall map was compared to just the warehouse and the police station, I almost expected optional objectives—sort of like the FM "Being Thief 2: Exile"—that had you solving minor mysteries that required you to go into different places. It's funny because the map in your office has a bunch of locations marked but there are only four you ever enter. It's almost like there was a plan for more but it got cut short.
Anyway, I consider it worth the time for the novelty of it. Just don't expect anything phenomenal.
