Played it on release not to completition and rated it too low. Got interested in a replay after seeing some of the other FMs of the author (and for how long they've been working on FMs), and glad I did. It's not the prettiest FM, I've been spoiled by current authors and this one looks a lot like an early FM. But when you first get to a rooftop and actually see how big the map is you'll be surprised. Not overwhelming at all though. Worst part? The dated looks and the generic aesthetic. You'll like it if you still like the aesthetics of the original game; kinda barren rooms, very squared, little brushes and objects. In OldDark this FM would've been pretty great but here it feels old.
Didn't like how the readables are used: several of them comment and pretty much spoil in writing the secret or enviromental storytelling that you may even have already found (or worse: you haven't yet). Best part? The masterful city design. It's genuinely one of the best maps I've seen at dealing with opening up and connecting an area that was previously unaccesible or that required a long trek back. In the same vein, backtracking is half of the mission, but this time is astonishingly fun! You'll go back for completitionism sake or because you see what might be a puzzle and you wanna try something out. I'm not even sure I've actually ever enjoyed backtracking before, mostly it's been tolerable, like the down time between tension, or there hasn't even been any.
