Death's Cold Embrace is definitely one of the best FM campaigns out there, it's got everything your ordinary taffer would want: Tons of loot, a fairly epic storyline of love and loss, and as a bonus-- a couple moments of underpants soiling terror, especially in the first mission which overall is the real capstone in this campaigns quality.
The story and missions in general are well told and excellently paced. I don't know if I usually play masochistic missions but I found this campaign in general a bit on the easy side, not that I'm complaining! There are a lot of missions to go through. One of them also contains one of my favorite Keeper cameos; done in the same vein as the one of them watching you during Life of the Party, except a million times better.
Only thing I can really complain about is some re-use of maps which can instill a sense of sameness, but what's there is still certainly above the quality of the latter half of Thief 2 when it did the same thing. Also, expect a few camvator scenes.
I'm happy to say that even despite it's above average length, this campaign sits itself firmly in my usual FM rotation list.
