Definitely one of the highlights of the game, The Sword manages to produce a deeply disorienting and scary feeling. The ground floor of the mansion seems normal enough, if a little questionable in choice of decor, but as you ascend to the upper floors things get weirder and weirder.
You'll encounter physics-defying architecture, disorienting optical illusions, and increasingly difficult navigation, combined with terrifying imagery of dangerous and ancient forces of nature. In short, Garrett is way out of his comfort zone and you as the player will never feel entirely comfortable either.
The "Little Big World" secret area, available only in Thief Gold, is a hilarious addition and well worth a visit.
The few blemishes of the mission are slightly wonky sound propagation on the top floor, and overuse of tile floor spam there. These make ghost runs borderline unfair, with guards becoming alerted for no good reason and through no fault of your own.
