So I am harsher than most reviewers. For me a 5+ is a good mission, but I know most people would never dare rate anything below a 7 unless they hated it, so as a result seeing a nice round 6 made me uneasy.
Quite honestly though, I had a blast with this one.
In this mission you are doing one of those assassination jobs which I usually hate. However the catch here is you are being blackmailed into it. This is of course opens all sorts of moral questions about Garretts character, is he willing to kill to protect himself? How much blood is he willing to spill just for his own purposes? Will he ever forgive himself for committing a cold blooded murder?
You can then throw all those interesting questions into the bin, alongside the zombie parts, severed heads, and corpses that litter the villains house. The guy is so cartoonishly evil, nobody has ever mapped his house as anyone who tries ends up dead.
The writing and plot of this mission is honestly very bad, but it's a cheesy sort of bad. I should also warn you there are some "genuine scares" (WillieSutton, TTLG, 2001) which, as you can tell by me giving a full citation, I didn't find scary in the slightest, but I still enjoyed them for the shlocky fun that it was.
Gameplay wise, it's a standard mansion mission, if a little on the harder side of things. Take my advice and don't worry too much about ghosting this one. There are a lot of guards, and I am not even sure if it's possible to ghost it full stop. There is certainly loot that can't be accessed without dealing with the guards. The mission is actually a very nice size, and the house doesn't outstay it's welcome.
The second half is weaker, but it's a short undead section followed by the final objective. If you managed to ghost this far, you will likely bust the ghost to one of the things that happens out here. Otherwise it's standard fare for a zombie mission, with a suprising lack of haunts. The final boss is a bit wimpy, and won't be a problem for anyone.
Overall, it's a fun little mansion mission, nothing too special, and the dark secret is less of a secret, and more of a neon sign saying "evil dude lives here". I still enjoyed it much more than I expected.
