Savar has done an undoubtedly amazing job at building this map, but I gotta say that I rarely felt that I was witnessing anything new, or actually interesting. Not to mention the usual problems present in Savar's mission are here as well (went into more details about them in my review covering the previous mission, The Hotel).
While as always, there are a good couple of cool (and insanely hidden) secrets, the good parts of Blue Rose are basically the combination of the Rutherford Castle, the St. Edgar's Church, and the Keeper Compound maps from the Deadly Shadows campaign. Now it could be rightfully said that a concept like that sounds perfectly fine - and I do think that the Blue Rose is a competently made, very-very decent map -, but the time I've spent with it often felt like I was on auto-pilot. And the fact that there are many identically looking rooms (one bed, one desk with a chair, a window, a bookcase, and an NPC sitting, or sleeping) didn't help at all. I think the only exception was the artifact needed to be collected - but even that lead to some disappointing moments.
Two more things I'd like to mention before wrapping up my thoughts:
1. The writing is... questionable. Savar came up with a story that tries to explain things that were completely fine without further explanation. It's straight up fan fiction writing, there is no better way to put it.
2. The assassination objectives. They seem to become regular starting in this mission. I'm not a bigoted canon follower, but since we are playing Garrett, I can confidently say that he'd pretty much avoid doing them.
I think the tone of my review was rather critical up to this point, but actually I can recommend Blue Rose. It's more of a routine, but an episode of a very respectable effort. It has a couple of interesting ideas, but just as Savar's other missions, needs a lot of patience. The atmosphere is really good, the quality of the locations and their lighting are similar to the official missions, but if you've played the Deadly Shadows campaign, you've already seen all of it.
