Tower of Illusion is designed to waste your time.
Well, not really. Wrichards more than likely assumed "lockpicking = longer and more engaging mission" and called it square. They even made you go find both picks individually to hold you back a little more. Unfortunately, goodwill starts to fade when you end up having to pick every door and chest back to back to back.
Throw in the fact that the level is mostly maze-like grey stone hallways and staircases, the entire mission becomes a very repetitive slog. It's almost cruel that you then given an item that is said to unlock any door, only for you to acquire it 2 minutes before the mission ends and after you've already unlocked EVERY door in the tower.
This one had (and I guess still has) me fired up if only because any good or interesting design from Bear Pits was completely wiped away. It's a shame.
