I've recently tasked myself with playing the Lieutenant-series of missions, and even though I've enjoyed the previous entries, I must say that this is my favorite!
Story-wise it continues where the previous entries left off. You have been tasked with tracking down a character from the previous mission, and you follow the trail to a foreign country (with some clear Arabic influences).
There are (as far as I can tell) a lot of new textures and music/sound-effects in this mission. It is a nice change from the previous two, that were the classic city-themed missions that we are used to. I like the architecture, and even though the steep loot-goal is optional, we all know that it is actually mandatory! It took me a while to gather it all, but there is no shortage of secrets or optional houses/rooms to be found here!
I found that I got stuck far less in this mission than in the other two missions. Perhaps I'm now used to the style of exploration that is required to play these maps now?
Exploration is a must, and if I need to say anything negative, it would be that it is easy to get a bit lost in this mission. It's positive that it is very non-linear in many ways, but I ended up in a situation where I did things in "the wrong order" and found a lot of the essential items before I knew what they were for, or that I was looking for them. It all fell in place when I back-tracked, and the mission was still winnable, but it was a bit frustrating.
All in all, I think this is a very well crafted mission. It tries to break some of the traditions that are well established among fan-missions, and introduces a setting that I think is interesting and fun. You feel more like a Thief than an Agent most of the time, but that is what most people came here for anyway, right? I hope to see more from this author in the future!
