This mission's ambition lies more in locations and environments, than moment to moment gameplay. It's busy crafting the lore, expanding the areas that we navigated 25 years ago for the first time, but it leads to a lot of unused spaces, that sometimes feel incomplete. Some rooms are just there because of lore instead of game design purposes. Gameplay frequently feels like going through the motions. It's not bad or anything, but it feels like it's now why we are here.
The Keepers appear more like librarians and archivists, rather than a cryptic order, that navigates a different plane of time, consciousness and knowledge. It might be good or not, depending on your perception of them, but I prefer Keepers to be more enigmatic.
That being said, the mission nails "what's behind that door" task and preserves the unique vibe of The Dark Project, even despite daylight. It's an absolute present for the fans of the first game, a chance to revisit the familiar and iconic (in some circles) areas. Bravo.
