One of the first things you'll notice when booting up the mission is that darkness is pitch black, even if you crank up your gamma to the max. This is done to incentivize the player to use the lantern, but I believe this gimmick has aged quite poorly. The light looks very unnatural and in one section some objects do not work well with the lantern's light. There's also an area which is very labyrinthine and you can easily miss the map (like I did), in combination with the darkness and small light source this makes for a frustrating experience where any semblance of horror is annulled by irritation.
Other than that, it's a solid two hour adventure with a rather steep loot goal, I barely managed to reach it despite finding many secrets. I was not a fan of the general gameplay as shadows can be deceiving and not hide you despite the darkness, guards can be all-knowing and spot you in frustrating ways, and the requirement of switching your lantern on and off depending on your situation, but while the puzzles are pretty much trivial once you find the associated hint, there were some very fun parts I won't spoil.
The atmosphere and story go hand in hand, but the general look of the mission felt a bit off to me, despite having used the recommended object enhancement pack. There are a few absolutely fantastic readables, but I wish there had been more as I feel like the author has only scraped the surface of what could have been done with the story.
In conclusion, it's a pretty good and ominous journey which felt tainted by some rather significant issues, but the mission is well worth playing, and aforementioned issues might not bother you as much as they've bothered me, who knows.
