The second mission of The Metal Age shows what Thief II is good at: building great, complex, detailed levels with a lot of routes to take, secrets to find and stories to figure out. The warehouse complex is occupied by various tenants, each providing their own flavor to the halls they're renting. Though these sections feel cozily separated, they're all connected on the second floor. Though it's quite easy to take down the guards, exploring the buildings and finding ways to open up sections feels very rewarding. The secrets found within are a cherry on top.
The storytelling is on another level, though the reason for visiting Rampone Dockside Shipping is simple (rent). The real treat lies in learning about the tenants' struggles, through visuals and the readables we've come to love. The Expert objectives provide all the more reason to explore the level.
Though lacking in tension and challenge, this mission shows on what level Thief II can operate.
