There's a dank, rundown shanty of a port named Wrecker's Reach on the fringes of what can still be considered civilised lands. Sometime long ago it might've been widely known, under a name now forgotten, as a hub of colonial trade and, in particular, for a mine that has brought forth the Ocean's Tear, a dazzling sapphire of the deepest blue. Now its decaying stone piers serve only smugglers and poor emigrants on yet another leg of their journey. Gamblers and petty barons now live in the crumbling residences of merchants and nobles.
Imagine my surprise, then, to see a grand merchant's ship arriving in the dark of night. It's anyone's guess what brought it here, and more importantly what it carries, and I intend to be the first to find out. Holing up at the waterfront is finally paying off.
