Things went terribly wrong for our fellow thieves the night of the Roget affair. Shortly after leading Garrett to a sewer connected to the Seraphic embassy's district, Dupont was slaughtered by a mob of Hammerites who must have followed them both to that location. Garrett, on the other hand, went about his buisness, and successfully completed his mission, unaware of what awaited him on his return. The Hammerites knew Garrett well enough, and carefully planned his capture. While two guards each block seperate alleyways, two more ambushed Garrett from behind as he exited the sewers. Escape was nearly impossible, and for the very first time, the Hammerites could pride themselves in announcing to the world that Garrett, master thief, had been struck down by the Builder's righteous wrath and awaited to be brought to justice. A certain fanatical priest named Dorcas, however, seemed to be taking credit for devising the plan that had captured Garrett. In fact, by putting Roget to the sword, Garrett actually did the Hammerites a favor by getting rid of one of their adversaries.
Now, Garrett found himself captive in the Guilesatpeak penitentiary. He would no doubt be able to escape unnoticed easily enough if only he wasen't trapped in a minuscule jail cell and surrounded by guards who's job it is to keep prisoners in them. But he knew that nobody would come to rescue him, and that the only thing that he'd have left were he to linger about would be a noose around the neck.
