If you wanna enjoy BTDW at its finest, do yourself a favor and ignore the main objective of collecting the necklace in Beric's castle. Just explore everything else this FM has to offer: the sewers, the rooftops, the fairly enjoyable redables, but don't put your foot inside Beric's castle, because once you do it one thing will become painfully clear: skacky was still an amateur when he made this mission.
Hey kids! Do you enjoy rooms of infinite tile floors that all but force you to glue one of your fingers to the creep button in order to advance 2 milimeters without allerting every single living soul inside the building of your presence? No? Well, too bad because thats what you will be doing once you enter Beric's castle. Couple this with an insultingly easy key hunting puzzle and a secret Keeper compound with so many recycled assets that you start wondering if you have been exploring the exact same room for the past 10 minutes, and what you have is a painfull experience that in no way represents what Thief is supposed to be.
Don't get me wrong, there is stuff to enjoy in BTDW. I liked the time I spend jumping from rooftop to rooftop figuring out how the enter all the castles in Newmarket. Finding that one secret thief hideout was very rewarding and the little romance sub-plot in some of the redables made me crack a smile. Is just that all of this go down the drain once you have to accomplish the main thing the mission is asking you to do!
Skacky has grown a lot as a FM dev ever since BTDW came to be, please don't take this review as a metric of his other works. Endless Rain, The Sound of a Burrick in a Room and A Midsummer Night's Heist are all fantastic and worthy of their praise, but with all due respect to every BTDW fan out there: this FM is a one and done for me.

Hi oregano! And welcome!
I haven't played this mission yet, but... isn't there any alternative way than tiles available?
Thanks for posting!

Hey Konrad, I played this mission last night for the first time. I'm not sure where oregano's frustration is coming from in regards to the tile floors. There are plenty of carpets to run along, stone floors, and other less noisy options. Also keep your views high as there are plenty of climbing opportunities that will keep your feet off the ground too. Even the sections with tile are easy enough to sneak by with plenty of dark spots and usually only 1 guard about. This is a really good mission, especially for those new to Thief FMs as its rather straight forward but still with plenty of ways to navigate through and things to discover.
