The Keepers have discovered an additional talisman of Fire. This would be a great opportunity to pump them for information about the prophecy. Not only that but if I can rid the world of a golem that haunts the fishmonger area I get some cash from a few contracts.
Narration:
Of all the people I would hate to anger, my landlord sits on the top of the list. I can never seem to pawn my goods fast enough for his liking. If I stole from him, he would just raise the rent. That would not be good. Killing him would bring too many eyes poking around the building for my liking. My rent is due, so now I'm sitting at the bar waiting for a job to come my way.
A stealthy figure coming from the backroom skits the edge of the bar to a nearby table. The robes he wore were a dead giveaway for him. He was a Keeper. It took most of my mental strength and training to single out their conversation. A second talisman... south central area... golem. I couldn't make out the rest. The keepers must have been rushed to do something because after the rapid exchange of information they both left through the front door.
The talisman information was new to me, but the golem wasn't. They must have been talking about the old fishmonger cul-de-sac, where a golem was supposedly to have killed a lost merchant. I thought that was just a rumor to keep the Hammerites in the area from having unwanted guests. It must have been true. I hope the contracts that people have put on its head are also real.
Heading home, I called to a passing guard, "Keep up the good work." He must have been lectured about me several times at his barracks, but never has he placed the face to the description. It is just a few more feet to my apartment building. This is a great opportunity to get some information from the Keepers about their prophecy. The stairs hardly creek as I climb up to my apartment. The talisman is worthless to everyone but them. I would've taken the fire escape, but the last time I tried, the whole thing shifted down 2 centimeters. There *is* a limit to how much stealth can accomplish. After getting into my room, I carefully get ready for the trip.
