Conall,
General hostility towards the church is on the rise in The City and we suspect pagan mischief behind another brazen act of impiety from the nobility. Willy, Wharfmaster of Wayside, refuses to renew the ancient port contract which has been in place for at least a hundred years, thus subjecting the Church to the usual taxes and fees charged to normal citizens.
This grave insult must not stand!
We have given the Baron's office notice of our intent to raid Lapstone House tomorrow on credible suspicion of heresy and paganism. Unfortunately it seems Willy must have friends in the Watch because we've seen groups of men loading a great deal of cargo onto Willy's ship, conveniently moored just out of lawful reach.
He's sure to have cleared out anything of interest, but the technicalities of maritime law won't save him this time. Our brothers need to find evidence of heresy tomorrow and you're going to make sure they do.
Floramancy has been outlawed in the City since the first brick was laid and Willy's wife, the Lady Menka has been seen numerous times in the company of Simon the Hedgecutter before his arrest.
Enclosed you'll find a pagan scroll of Hedge Weaving courtesy of Simon. In the master bedroom there is a striking blue vase on the mantelpiece. There, deposit the scroll and our brothers will find it. Take what spoils you will from the manor, but Master Willy and his lady must not be harmed. An Anathema has been drawn up, but he will have no problem renewing our contract once we dangle the irons and threaten to reunite his Lady with Simon in Cragscleft.
Mournsday is tomorrow. Guess I'd better catch a carriage to Wayside.
