I always appreciate when environments have element of believability. Kitchen, barracks, training ground, reading floor, holy temple, archive - all that stuff feels like an actual place with a bit of fantasy twist. And it's rather rare in early FMs. Sure, it's blocky and basic, but there's enough variety and routes to keep things interesting.

Shortie (15 minutes) from '99. Infiltrate and assassinate. Crated with care, it's rather polished and grounded in realism in comparison to majority of it's peers from the era. Enemies have good hearing, though. So it's one of those times, where you can't sneak on them full speed. You need to crawl.

There seems to be an attempt to fill the streets with some background life, but ultimately there's nothing to do. You just go through long empty streets with rare braindead patrols.

As one of earliest FMs, it tries a bunch of interesting things, mostly fights between NPCs, that can be used to your advantage. It's boxy, glitchy as hell and just very sketchy overall. 20-30 minutes large, solid rob-a-mansion + assassination from early days. Not much to say about it, except that it's well-structured and finished. It's obviously boxy and sometimes a little too empty, but it doesn't take away much from the experience. It's not "must play", but it's fine.

I wish all FMs were like this. There's no bull****. You don't need to sneak around, looking for clues and valuables. You just go and TAKE it. Take what's rightfully yours. And terminate everyone on your way. Just like all other actually good games from '99.

Boxy, but competent for an early FM. No element overstays it's welcome, the structure is sound. It's rather basic and short (20 minutes), yet it tries to play on the character of the Baron a bit. It's OK for it's age, but today it's not really worth it.
