It was about time Garret was put up against some Keepers. It's just not possible he is the only one that can hide in shadows. Imagine you are in a giant underground labyrinth and you know the exact number of adversaries after you. You take a few steps into the light and an arrow flies over your head. Or you slowly walk along a corridor just to h...
Whatever rating you give this, there is nothing like it. Every area feels like it was designed by a different person for a different mission. I got lost a good dozen times and had to look for hints. It is hard and it feels long. Lots of secrets, lots of pitfalls. The natural progression leads you in circles, where you re-enter an area without re...
It's a mansion. Classic scenario. Some twisted mystery. Some secrets. Short. Nothing special really. But there is something cool about the story and the way classic thief 1 ambience is used. I dunno, just felt nice.
All mission that entered the 10th anniversary contest had to squeeze max content from a small size. This one does one better. It uses the thief difficulty system to set 3 small parts. Different spawns and items. Some exploration, some puzzle and some undead hunting ...with weird items. I can't say it's one of my favorites, but it deservers a hig...
Someone said once there is a mission that looks like your monitor is broken. I had to try it and found that this is one of those mystery "what happened to this village" types that I like (like Eclipsed). The atmosphere, strange creatures lurking around and the written notes just lure you in further. But then you reach a point where you wander ar...
This won a contents for small sized missions by having the best design. There is a lot of verticality, a ton of keys and quite a bit of snoring. It is a cool, short mission that actually has an interesting story. There are some plot twists. Unfortunately I could not complete it fully. One of the areas was inaccessible because I couldn't make the...
This is one of the earliest FMs that gained popularity. It certainly was one of the very few snow missions at the time. It's a short campaign to be precise, but the first of 3 missions is a prolonged not skippable cut scene (innovative, but annoying). And the last mission is very short. Still the way the middle mission uses ambience and storyte...
This participated in a contents with tight constrictions to the mission size. And yet the author squeezed every bit. I don't think this mission is special, but I has great ambiance and surprises later on. Still, the cramped size of the mission make some maneuvers harder.
The Rose Cottage is much more mystery than horror. No weapons and lots of atmosphere and some cool scripted moments. The manor in which this takes place is designed superbly. Give this one a try.
I played trough this once around 2006, then again 2023 and can't believe how good this actually was and how long it took me to play it again. I don't' know, but this campaign hits like no other. It has some weird ambiance and sound in the most awesome way. It has some of the funniest custom dialogs. Some of the most chilling (and hard) undead mi...
A good mission pack, doesn't need to be a smooth ride, right? If you hurry trough it, you risk missing not just secrets, but secret levels within the levels (first mission is twice as large as it seems). Atmosphere and ambiance in missions come very high for me. And this small campaign with its rain, snow and mystery felt right at home the first...
A giant casino with secrets to explore, lots of voice acting and background story, time sensitive objectives and different ways to complete certain objectives to make you feel you went the extra mile. Mission X makes it all fit together like clockwork. A lot of work went into this. It makes you feel back the CoSaS series ended there.
The mission probably deserves a higher rating. There are a lot of hidden stuff. I completed it barely on Expert, but feel there was more to explore. There is a nice thunder pre-storm ambiance. Much work went into the design. Unfortunately, for me of course, nothing too special.
Edit: I came back to this one, which is more than I can say for m...
Horror missions are not my favorites, but some are just created elegantly. The tempo here is key. The terror is not thrown in your face. A mystery is built up with some great ambiance. Then unraveled. I recommend this one if you like the supernatural.
I have a personal attachment to this mission. A cozy winter night's walk to a local inn. There are multiple ways to enter and multiple ways to play once inside. There are a lot of small details and side missions to explore. There is some loose connection to Gathering at the Bar (the very first FM and the inspiration for this one).
