info NOTES:     New Dark 1.23+ is required. FMSel is strongly recommended.
FMSel users have to MANUALLY EXTRACT the scripts folder from the mission zip file or the companion zip file to their main Thief folder! Darkloader users can safely disregard this.

- DO NOT PLAY WITH MODS! You have to add a semicolon (;) on the mod path line in cam_mod.ini, otherwise the game WILL crash!
- This is essentially a remake/reimagining of Thief 4's House Of Blossoms mission. We liked the idea but were very frustrated with the result. Whether we managed to make a better version is for you to decide!
- The second mission is for mature audiences. It contains some lewd paintings, imagery and reading material. We tried to keep it as tasteful as possible but be warned.
- New Mantling is more than recommended! Remember that you can mantle on objects!
- Enable Weather and Fogging. It's half the mission.
- For obvious reasons it is recommended you play this FM in dark conditions. This is a major part of the experience.
- Make sure to read everything you come across, hints and plot elements may be written somewhere.
- Higher difficulty means less starting gear, less money in the loadout store, less equipment to be found, a higher loot goal and more opponents. More objectives are added on higher difficulties.
- There is a high resolution picture of Garrett's map for Mission 1 in the zip file.

Briefing

I found some interesting info while raiding Monsegur's palace in Stonemarket.
His ledger seemed to indicate the location of a very curious trinket stashed
somewhere in a place called the Dark Hollow, itself located in Fidgewick's Hollow,
a subdistrict of Downtowne. From what I've managed to gather by pushing my network
of associates, the Dark Hollow is apparently some sort of very high-class brothel,
and its exact location is very well hidden. Even Cutty doesn't know where it is
exactly, and the man knows every place in The City. Looks like I'll have to do my
own scouting. I'm pretty certain I'll find eager pockets ripe for picking inside
the brothel, and if I can't manage that, there is always the neighborhood.

The streets are cold and snow has fallen quite hard these past few days, so I don't
think I'll find many people outside, though the local watchdogs are on the prowl for
these Downwinder amateurs. I doubt they'd appreciate a sneak such as me wandering the
streets and the cold rooftops, so I have to find that brothel quickly. I also doubt
the guards will let me through uninvited so I better find a discreet way inside as well,
and keep a low profile. I have no idea what I’ll find inside but I bet the place will
be crowded and on high security... Let's just hope this chalice is worth it.

This 2-mission set is deceiving. The opening part - quiet snowy quarter - is breathtaking. Tricky platforming is rather fun, it's decently structured and it's visually gorgeous. But then the missions go underground and this is where my fun ended. It wasn't bad in the sewers, because there was some variety and some interesting secrets to uncover,...

"The Chalice Of Souls" is a two level campaign, consisting of a city mission and an underground brothel.
The city mission is excellent, a lot of jumping between rooftops and climbing into windows, as well as exploring the streets makes it varied in gameplay, combined with beautiful architecture makes it a fantastic stand-alone mission.

Remakes of one's game map in another game's engine are always great fun. And then, of course, there's a case of demakes, when a newer game is recreated in an older engine. But can you really call it a demake when an older title is more engaging and offers more, and more interesting, gameplay opportunities than a newer one?

Misja składa się z dwóch osobnych poziomów, które całkowicie różnią się od siebie do tego stopnia, że powoduje to pewne uczucie dysonansu. Gołym okiem widać, że misje zostały stworzone przez innych autorów z innym zamysłem, który nie do końca udało się połączyć.
