Briefing

Lord Guldenberg might just be the wealthiest man in this part of
Hightowne. He's engaged in an ongoing competition with the other
nobles in this area, his two biggest rivals being Lord Ravenhurst
and Lord Leveilleur. Guldenberg is said to possess a large art
collection which contains the world-renowned painting
"Majesty and Splendour".

Earlier this week, somebody managed to steal a valuable gem from
Lord Ravenhurst: the tanzanite "Rachel". That dealt him quite the
blow, to both his wealth and his reputation.

Nobody knows the culprit's identity or how they carried out the
heist, but maybe I'll be able to find some clues during tonight's
foray. There's no better time for it. The hubbub over the theft
should create ample opportunity for me to sneak into Guldenberg's
palace and get my hands on that painting.

There's also a unique district underneath this part of Hightowne,
excavated from old ruins that date back centuries. The officials
tried to make use of those structures by converting them into
maintenance facilities and cheap apartments, but the place has
attracted nothing but vermin over the years. Now, it's fallen to
the hands of scoundrels and bandits.

The criminal activity in the underground district has increased
dramatically during recent years, which has been a huge problem
for Hightowne's blue-blooded residents. The officials have been
trying to control the situation by stepping up the number of
guards that patrol the streets, and they've even gone so far as
to lock the poor bastards up in the Undercity during the night.

Now that my competition's out of the picture, I should set about
making my move. Maybe I'll even find another way into the Undercity...

Whispers Below the Cobblestone, unsurprisingly given the name, focuses on a chunk of the City, and all the weird, creepy, and rouge-y stuff beneath its streets. First of all, if city missions are your thing, then, in my opinion, this is a must play. This has all the archtectural design and verticality of a great city mission, reminded me of skacky's missions quite a bit. This has got to be the densest, most layered Thief Gold mission I've come across yet. Just when I think I've explored it all, I open a door and voila, there's an additional area I ain't set eyes on before! This is pure ecstasy for a city mission connoisseur. Criminally underrated.

A really good-looking city mission featuring nice variety of locations, with the underground hideout areas worth particular praise. Perhaps nothing especially original in this one, and its story quite forgettable, but both the brushwork and the atmosphere are very good.

Firmly sits next to The Sound of a Burrick in a Room and Endless Rain as one of my favorite city missions and just fan missions in general. Love how the mansions are designed differently and the Undercity section is so cool.

What may look like another City exploration mission at the start, is actually much more interesting than that. There's an Undercity below the cobblestone, the City's dark underbelly built onto its foundations, where the poor, beggars, thieves and various ruffians live. Miałem dość spory problem z oceną tej misji - z jednej strony jest to kolejna olbrzymia (na pierwszy rzut oka) misja miejska, w które uwielbiam grać od czasów odrodzenia misji do TG. This is my first FM that I've played from Korthak and it was truly an enjoyment! The city is dark and it has a strong TG atmosphere. There are lots of climbing opportunities and interesting buildings to explore. Especially Lord Guldenberg's and Lord Leveilleur's buildings have very cool architecture and layout that is inspiring.
