Thanks for writing out this review. I couldn't agree more with it, and it's written out in a thoughtful manner I might not be able to replicate when writing my own review. There's a lot of great elements in this mission, but it all feels dragged down by the exploration and navigation aspects (one thing not in this review is how often you fall to your death due to improper gap sizes, slope-shaped gargoyles you have to jump off of, etc).
I'll be writing my own review soon, and I'll gladly u...
It's a lovely campaign. If anything, I'd criticize that some of the design/architecture shows that it's a rather old mission, and that some of the missions are a bit average. All in all, it was a lot of fun though, and a really "round" experience.
If you like a pirate setting (like me), this is definitely an essential mission/campgin.
I agree. I really struggled with Christines FMs in the past. The ridiculous loot goals, always the same look to each mission, the overabundance of food items and other custom items that in my opinion often are immersion breaking and lastly the very stretched feeling maps with lots of walking. Pirate Ahoy also has these issues but it's a short campaign and the fresh themes make it much more bearable.
Yeah, I haven't really got lost much, besides these several minutes inside the mansions, trying to figure out which stairs lead upwards/outside and which ones will lead me in circles where I had just been a moment ago. I'm a huge hater of labyrinthian stuff like The Lost City with non-functional maps and the like, and I really do consider this mission effective and complicated-looking when it comes to the visual layout, and not like The Lost City, it's quite simple and non-linear in practice....
Interesting take! With so many amazing fan missions around, I can agree with this one not being top tier (compared with others). Still, I think it was a great mission. I actually got lost a lot in this one. Sewers, crypts and all that aren't that hard for me, but there was so much winding and verticality in this one. That probably got me confused at times. The length, I can't relate with that one at all. This one took me quite a while.
The story is pretty inconsequential, I agree there. I...
I tried, friend! I really tried. I was expecting something truly bombastic, judging by the reviews. And then I went over to Vizir's, got the Iron Fascade, just laying around, with nothing challenging to it (like the whole mission)", and was like... time for the second half of the mission, the "twist", the better half where it all picks up, the reason why it's so beloved, time for something wild to happen!
Except... nothing ever happened. It was over, after 1:20h - just get down to the cave...
